SMS undertakes numerous types of projects for the state, developers and county planning departments. Our team developed and executed the original housing consortium study in 1992. We did the first update in 1997, designed and executed the Census 2000 update, and completed the latest version of the project with Hawaii Housing Policy Study Update, 2003. We have responded to calls for assistance in applying Housing Policy Study data since 1992, and have been actively developing the 2006 update since early 2004.
SMS has now expanded the housing studies to Guam where we have completed the first of their studies in 2009.
SMS undertakes a variety of planning and permitting projects for developers. These projects range from demand analysis, to social impact and economic impact studies as well as product refinement and pricing.
SMS did a great job in leading Hawai‘i Tourism Authority’s evaluation development process…including identifying input, output and outcome measures to track progress toward HTA’s strategic goals. SMS also provided steps to guide us in integrating the evaluation process into our overall operations and planning. Our staff was actively engaged in the process and tracking the measures will ensure a focus on driving towards outcomes.
