Honolulu, Hawai'i (Nov. 9, 2021)-- SMS, Hawai'i's leading research and consulting company since 1960, announced today that Tim Carson is taking ownership and management of the firm effective December 1, 2021. This also marks the return home for Carson who was born and raised in Kailua on O'ahu.
Carson will become President and CEO of SMS. Hersh Singer, SMS Chairman and Jim Dannemiller, SMS President, will be retiring from their current roles. Singer will remain as senior advisor to the firm to ensure a smooth transition. Faith Sereno Rex, President of SMS Consulting and Daniel Naho'opi'i, Executive Vice President of SMS Research will continue to be part of SMS' executive committee.

"Carson's understanding of building customer relationships combined with his research, consulting and management experience will take SMS deep into the future."

Carson started his career working for U.S. Representative Patsy T. Mink and U.S. Representative Ed Case in Washington D.C. Carson gained a deep understanding and appreciation of research and evaluation during his years in Washington and he used these tools throughout his career.
Prior to joining SMS, Carson has held management, sales, sales-engineering, and consulting roles in Silicon Valley, Washington D.C., and responsibilities for the North American and Latin American markets for the last 16 years. This included working with tech companies such as IBM, RSA Archer and Edgile.
Carson graduated from Punahou School (96) and he received his B.A. from the University of Oregon.
