Part-time Positions

As a market research company, we are continuously speaking to the people of Hawai'i and other Pacific Island nations, and asking for their opinions on important issues in their communities.

Current Part-Time Openings:

Telephone Interviewers - SMS Hawai’i is seeking to immediately hire several qualified interviewers to work in our call center located at Bishop Square. Starting pay is between $14.00 to $16.50 hourly. Call Center professionals will contact local residents and ask for their opinions on the top issues of today. We do not sell anything. SMS Hawai’i offers flexible scheduling. No experience is necessary and we'll provide paid training. Call or email to set up an appointment. At SMS Hawai'i, we look for university students or new grads ready to dive in and learn, be a part of our team, and have an immediate impact on the millions of lives our research touches.

As a new grad, you will be trusted with diverse, critical projects, and you'll be empowered to help build infrastructure, analyze and visualize data, and share your insight.

SMS Hawai'i recruits paid university interns - community college students, undergraduates, and graduates - during each calendar year to work either in the research or consulting divisions of the company. Current Openings

Paid Summer Internship

Seeking a talented college student or recent graduate to join our team for the summer.

During your ten weeks as a summer intern, you'll be integrated into a team where you'll contribute to challenging projects to develop data-driven insights for clients and the community.

Your manager, team, and our incredible SMS 'ohana will strive to be your guide for you during your summer with us. We'll provide the support, mentorship, and real-world experience needed to accelerate your learning and make a real impact on your path ahead.

Position Description:

  • Learn about qualitative and quantitative research techniques and best practices
  • Provide support to the SMS team through research, reporting, and analysis on economic and business issues and trends impacting Hawai’i and the Pacific
  • Assist with the preparation of reports, preparing documents and charts; assists with layout and presentation
  • Perform targeted research support
  • Assist with special projects

Position Qualifications:

  • A current student or recent graduate of an accredited college or university pursing a degree in marketing, economics, tourism, political science, business or related field
  • Understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis packages and economic modeling applications such as SPSS, R, or other relevant systems
  • A positive, team-oriented attitude and inquisitive mindset
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively to complete multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally with diverse people - clients and co-workers
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Compensation:

This is a paid internship. Compensation will be $20 an hour and the intern is expected to work 40 hours a week. There are no health or other benefits associated with this position.
