We collect quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, determine tourism impacts and benefits, and establish performance measurements and benchmarks to understand an industry in flux.

About the East-West Center Professional Development Program

The East-West Center's Professional Development Program, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, conducts the Pacific Islands Tourism Professional Fellows Program. In 2022, this program brought two cohorts of tourism industry professionals from the Pacific Islands to Honolulu, Hawai'i, and other parts of the United States, for intensive four-week programs that built significant capacity and facilitated enduring professional bonds between industry leaders in the United States and the Pacific Islands. Fellows receive leadership training, cultural activities, and are assigned to a 3-week customized work-placement that supports their specific learning objectives.
